Specialist accounts recognise Tropheus sp. Ikola and describe a dark front and rear around a yellow central band. Band intensity and width vary in reference fish. The five tank-bred grades from 2.5 cm to 6 cm do not certify exact founder locality, selected sex or identical adult band development.
