The supplier genus typo refers to Melanotaenia ajamaruensis. This rainbowfish resembles boesemani but has more pronounced flank striping and distinct fin-ray counts. Rediscovered western New Guinea reference populations inhabit flowing rivers near Ajamaru; the present wild-caught 7-8 cm lot has no exact collecting station or sex designation.
Obtain the supplier holding-water measurements, collecting population and established keeper guidance before transfer. Prepare mature filtered housing with sheltered margins and open swimming space, and confirm suitable food and adult group requirements.
