Seram Blenny

The Seram Blenny (Salarias ceramensis) is a captivating marine fish native to the coral reefs of Indonesia, particularly around the Seram Island region. This species is recognized for its striking coloration, which typically includes a combination of blues, greens, and yellows, making it a popular choice among aquarium enthusiasts. The pH level should be kept between 8.1 and 8.4 to mimic its natural reef habitat. A minimum tank size of 100 liters is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and territory.

Feeding the Seram Blenny requires a balanced diet rich in algae and small meaty foods. High-quality flake foods, spirulina, and frozen or live food such as brine shrimp can be offered to ensure optimal health. It is advisable to feed small amounts several times a day to mimic its natural foraging behavior.

Compatibility with other species is generally good, but caution should be taken when introducing multiple blennies to the same tank, as they may exhibit territorial aggression. Acclimation should be gradual, allowing the fish to adjust to the new environment over a period of several hours. Quarantine new arrivals for at least two weeks to prevent the introduction of diseases into the main aquarium.

The Seram Blenny is well-suited for shipping due to its hardiness and adaptability. Packing density should be moderate to minimize stress during transit, and maintaining a stable temperature between 24°C and 28°C is crucial. This species is not listed under CITES, making export regulations more straightforward.
