As a carnivorous species, they benefit from a varied diet that includes high-quality pellets, frozen foods, and live prey to ensure optimal health and coloration.

Compatibility is generally favorable; however, caution is advised when introducing multiple coris into a single tank, as they can exhibit territorial behavior. It is best to keep them in larger aquariums (minimum 200 liters) to provide adequate space for swimming and hiding. Acclimation should be performed gradually to avoid shock, utilizing drip acclimation over a few hours.

Quarantine is strongly recommended for new arrivals to prevent the introduction of diseases into established tanks. A quarantine period of at least two weeks allows for observation and treatment if necessary. The African coris is suitable for shipping but requires careful handling to ensure their health during transit.
