Rhodactis Spp, commonly known as Bounce Mushroom or Leaf, is a captivating coral species renowned for its stunning appearance and unique bounce-like texture. Found predominantly in the shallow reefs of the Coral Triangle and surrounding Indo-Pacific regions, these corals thrive in warm, nutrient-rich waters. Their vibrant colors, which range from deep greens to bright oranges and purples, make them a popular choice for both novice and experienced aquarists alike.

The Bounce Mushroom features a fleshy body with a wide, flat surface that can expand and contract, resembling a leaf or a bounce due to its unique structure. This adaptability allows it to capture light effectively for photosynthesis while also providing a habitat for various marine organisms. In addition to their aesthetic appeal, Rhodactis Spp plays a vital role in their ecosystem, providing shelter and protection for small fish and invertebrates.

Behaviorally, Bounce Mushrooms are generally peaceful and can coexist with other corals and marine life, provided they have enough space to expand. They can exhibit a range of behaviors, including retraction when disturbed or during low light conditions, demonstrating their sensitivity to environmental changes. In their natural habitat, they often form small colonies, contributing to the overall biodiversity of the reef.

In terms of habitat, Rhodactis Spp prefers sandy substrates and areas with moderate water flow. They are typically found at depths of 1 to 20 meters, where they receive ample sunlight. Their ability to adapt to various conditions makes them resilient, yet they require specific care when kept in aquariums to thrive.
To ensure optimal health and growth of Bounce Mushrooms, it is crucial to maintain stable water parameters. Ideal temperature ranges from 24°C to 28°C, with a salinity of 1.020 to 1.025 ppt. The pH should be kept between 8.1 and 8.4 for best results. Regular water quality checks are essential for preventing stress and disease.

Feeding Rhodactis Spp is relatively straightforward, as they primarily rely on photosynthesis from light and can also benefit from occasional supplement feeding with liquid coral foods or tiny meaty foods, like brine shrimp or mysis shrimp. Compatibility is generally good with other corals and fish; however, avoid aggressive species that may compete for space or light.

Acclimation is a crucial step when introducing Bounce Mushrooms to a new environment. Use a slow drip acclimation method over several hours to minimize stress. Quarantine new specimens for at least two weeks to monitor for any signs of disease or pests before adding them to the main tank. Regular feeding and proper spacing from other corals will help them flourish in a community setting.
Bounce Mushrooms are suitable for shipping due to their hardy nature, but care must be taken to pack them securely to prevent damage. Ideal packing density is one per container to allow for expansion. They are sensitive to extreme temperature fluctuations, so maintaining a stable environment during transport is crucial. Currently, there are no CITES restrictions on Rhodactis Spp, making them readily available for export.
