Compatibility is key when selecting tank mates; Humpback Puffers should be housed with similarly sized fish that are not overly aggressive. Smaller or fin-nipping species may be at risk from puffers' territorial behavior. During acclimation, it is crucial to introduce them slowly to minimize stress. A quarantine period of at least two weeks is recommended for new arrivals to ensure they are free from disease before introducing them to the main tank.

Humpback Puffers are suitable for shipping, but care must be taken to maintain stable water conditions during transit. Packing density should allow for sufficient space to prevent stress and injury.
