Corydoras Septrionalis, commonly referred to as the northern corydoras, is a small, freshwater catfish native to the slow-moving rivers and streams of South America. This species is characterized by its distinctive body shape and vibrant coloration, featuring a mix of light and dark patterns that provide excellent camouflage among river substrates. Typically, these fish exhibit a more elongated body compared to other corydoras species, with a prominent dorsal fin and a slightly flattened head, making them easily recognizable to enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Corydoras Septrionalis are peaceful and can be kept with other non-aggressive species, but avoid housing them with larger, predatory fish.

Acclimation is crucial when introducing Corydoras Septrionalis to a new tank. Slowly acclimate them by floating the sealed bag in the aquarium for about 15-20 minutes, then gradually mix in small amounts of tank water before fully releasing them. Quarantine new arrivals for 2-4 weeks to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure they are healthy before introducing them to the main tank.

Corydoras Septrionalis are suitable for shipping due to their robust nature. When packing, maintain a density of approximately 10-12 fish per liter of water to minimize stress during transport. The ideal shipping temperature is between 20-24°C, which helps ensure their health upon arrival. This species is not listed under CITES, simplifying shipping regulations.
