The Mosura Shrimp, scientifically known as Caridina cantonensis sp, is a captivating freshwater invertebrate native to the lush aquatic environments of Southeast Asia. Behaviorally, Mosura Shrimp are relatively peaceful and can coexist with a variety of other freshwater species, making them an excellent choice for community tanks. These shrimp are best kept in well-planted tanks with plenty of hiding spaces. They thrive in stable water conditions, showcasing their colors most vibrantly in slightly acidic to neutral pH environments. To maintain healthy Mosura Shrimp, it is crucial to replicate their natural habitat as closely as possible. Ideal water parameters include a temperature range of 22°C to 26°C, a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5, and soft to moderately hard water. Regular water changes and filtration are essential to keep the environment clean and stable. A minimum tank size of 20 liters is recommended to provide ample space for these active shrimp.

Feeding Mosura Shrimp is straightforward, as they are omnivores. A varied diet consisting of high-quality shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and algae wafers will ensure their nutritional needs are met. It is essential to avoid overfeeding, as uneaten food can pollute the water.

When introducing Mosura Shrimp to a new tank, a slow acclimation process is vital to prevent shock. Gradually introduce them to the new water conditions over several hours. Additionally, a quarantine period of at least two weeks is recommended for new shipments to prevent the introduction of diseases to your established tanks. Compatibility is generally high, but care should be taken when housing them with larger or more aggressive fish that may view them as food.

Mosura Shrimp are suitable for shipping due to their hardiness, but careful packing is essential to ensure their safety during transit. Adequate water volume and oxygen supply should be provided, along with a stable temperature throughout the shipping process. A packing density of 10-15 shrimp per liter is ideal. These shrimp are sensitive to rapid temperature changes, so maintaining a consistent temperature between 20°C and 24°C is crucial. Currently, Mosura Shrimp are not listed under CITES, simplifying export regulations.
