Parosphromenus phoenicurus was described from the Sungai Kampar drainage of Sumatra. Reference adult males have a rhomboid caudal fin and prominent red fin markings. The supplier lot has a 2.5-3 cm grade; its exact collecting locality and mature display are unspecified.
