Regular water changes and filtration are recommended to keep the water clean and clear. These fish thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water and should be kept in a minimum tank size of 60 liters to accommodate their social nature.

Feeding should consist of a varied diet that includes high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia, ensuring a balanced diet rich in nutrients. Schaller's Croaking Gourami is an omnivore, so offering a mix of plant-based and protein-rich foods is beneficial.
