The nominal species has little or no dorsal-ray elongation, distinguishing it from the long-filamented Hemirhamphodon byssus. Northern Sarawak and Brunei reference records do not certify this wild 3-4 cm lot collecting locality or sex composition. The trade name alone does not guarantee three visible body spots.
Confirm the measured holding water and accepted small foods before transfer. Provide securely covered mature accommodation with surface shelter, gentle steady movement and unobstructed feeding access. Shared freshwater-halfbeak advice is a starting point; exact species temperature, pH and salinity targets remain unspecified.
