Yellow Tail Siamese Algaeater

The common trade label does not place this fish in Crossocheilus or establish the behaviour of another fish sold as a Siamese algae eater. The accepted supplier species spelling is Paracrossochilus vittatus; vitata is a catalogue spelling error. The 4 cm offered grade does not establish adult size, collecting locality or a guaranteed algae-control result.

Prepare stable, filtered receiving accommodation and confirm measured holding water, food acceptance and adult space needs with the supplier before transfer. Keep sheltered bottom areas and check that each fish reaches its food without competition. Obtain the established species-specific flow, oxygenation and long-term diet for this lot. Provide accessible feeding areas and supplementary foods accepted by the fish. Do not treat the trade name as proof that aquarium algae alone will meet nutritional requirements or that generic Crossocheilus care is appropriate.
