Feeding Long-Finned Tetras is straightforward as they are omnivorous. A varied diet of high-quality flake food, live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, and vegetable matter will keep them healthy and vibrant. It is best to feed them small amounts multiple times a day rather than one large feeding to prevent overfeeding and maintain water quality.

In terms of compatibility, Long-Finned Tetras are peaceful fish that do well in community tanks. They can be housed with other non-aggressive species, such as guppies, rasboras, and other tetras. Acclimation should be done gradually by floating the sealed bag in the aquarium for about 15-20 minutes and then slowly mixing tank water into the bag before releasing them into the aquarium. Quarantine new arrivals for at least two weeks to monitor for any signs of disease before introducing them to the main tank.

Long-Finned Tetras are suitable for air shipping and can be packed with care to minimize stress. It is recommended to allow 2-3 fish per liter of water during shipping to ensure adequate space and oxygen. Maintain temperatures between 22-26°C during transport to prevent thermal shock. This species is not listed under CITES, making export regulations straightforward.
