Feeding should consist primarily of a diet rich in meaty foods, such as small shrimp, mysis, and high-quality frozen or live foods. They may also accept prepared foods, but a varied diet enhances their health and coloration. When introducing them to a community tank, ensure compatibility with other species, as they can exhibit territorial behavior towards similar-sized or shaped fish.

Acclimation is crucial; use a slow drip method over several hours to help reduce stress during transport. Long Nosed Hawkfish are suitable for shipping due to their hardiness. When packing, ensure a density that allows for adequate oxygen exchange and space to avoid stress. The ideal shipping temperature is between 24-26°C. They are not listed under CITES, making export regulations less stringent, but always check local laws and guidelines before shipping.
