A minimum tank size of 200 liters is recommended to provide ample space for these active swimmers.

Feeding should consist of a varied diet of live or frozen foods, including shrimp, small fish, and other marine proteins, as they are carnivorous. It is crucial to ensure that they are fed a balanced diet to promote optimal health and growth. Compatibility with other species can be challenging, as cuttlefish can be territorial; thus, they are best kept in species-specific tanks or with peaceful tank mates.

Acclimation is critical when introducing new cuttlefish into a tank. A slow drip method over several hours is recommended to minimize stress. Quarantine new arrivals for at least two weeks to monitor for any signs of disease or stress before introducing them to the main aquarium. Regular water quality checks and maintenance are vital to ensure a healthy environment for these cephalopods.

Pharaoh cuttlefish are sensitive to temperature fluctuations and should be shipped in a temperature-controlled environment. Packing density should allow for adequate space to prevent stress during transit. A temperature range of 20-24°C is optimal during shipping. CITES status does not apply to this species, making it suitable for export. Careful handling and prompt delivery are essential to ensure their health and viability upon arrival.
