The dark body carries variable pale spots or marks, with protective spines and bony armour typical of doradid catfishes. Reference pectinifrons belongs to the Amazon basin; this supplier lot is explicitly tank-bred. Two coded size offers remain available under the same product. Pale markings differ between individuals, and neither grade establishes a selected sex or breeder lineage.
Species reference guidance is 22-26 C and pH 5.5-7.5. Provide soft sand, shaded caves or wood and good filtration. Offer varied sinking foods with suitable live or frozen supplements, ensuring this bottom-dwelling fish receives food. A group of four or more can show natural social behaviour where space allows. Avoid very small companions that an adult could swallow, and account for the spines during safe transfer.
