Funebris was described from southern Borneo and is recorded from the Kahayan basin. Its pale stripe and angled bands distinguish it from most congeners, while the superficially similar Sumatran heokhuii differs in body proportions. Dwarf is the supplier trade description; the 4-5 cm grade does not establish an exact adult maximum, sex composition or collecting station.
