Numerous ornamental agassizii forms are maintained in the aquarium trade. This tank-bred Fire Red 3.5 cm offer does not select males, certify a geographic wild population or promise identical mature red intensity. A colour designation does not establish a separate species.
For confirmed agassizii, specialist temperature guidance gives 22-29 C. Use mature filtered water, shaded sandy areas and separate cave refuges with gentle flow. Offer accepted small live or frozen foods and suitable prepared foods. Confirm the breeder pH and hardness: extremely low pH reported for breeding some wild populations is not a universal holding target for this line.
