The accepted name is Melanotaenia vanheurni. Reference fish have a strong dark midlateral band bordered by paler lines and yellow on the lower flank. This substantial rainbowfish needs adult space planning beyond its 9-13 cm sale grade; exact collection population and sex composition are unspecified.

Obtain the supplier holding-water measurements, collecting population and established keeper guidance before transfer. Prepare mature filtered housing with sheltered margins and open swimming space, and confirm suitable food and adult group requirements.
