Their diet can include high-quality pellets, frozen or live foods, and even small morsels of meaty treats, contributing to their vibrant health and color.

This species prefers a well-established reef aquarium with plenty of hiding places, such as live rock and caves, which mimic their natural habitat. They thrive in stable water conditions and can be a delightful addition to a community tank, provided they are housed with compatible species that can tolerate their assertive nature.

When caring for the Double-Spotted Dottyback, maintaining stable water parameters is crucial. Ideal temperatures range from 24°C to 28°C, with a salinity of 1.020 to 1.025 ppt. The pH should be kept between 8.1 and 8.4 to ensure optimal health. A minimum tank size of 100 liters is recommended to provide ample space for swimming and establishing territories.

Feeding should consist of a varied diet including high-quality marine pellets, frozen or live brine shrimp, and other meaty foods. This species appreciates regular feeding schedules, ideally twice a day, to promote vibrant colors and overall health. It's important to monitor their feeding habits, as they can be aggressive towards smaller fish during feeding times.

Compatibility is key when introducing the Double-Spotted Dottyback to a community tank. They can be territorial, particularly males, so it is advisable to house them with similarly sized fish that are not overly aggressive. Acclimation should be conducted slowly using the drip method over several hours to minimize stress. Quarantine new arrivals for at least two weeks before adding them to the main tank, ensuring they are free from diseases and parasites to safeguard the health of existing inhabitants.

Double-Spotted Dottybacks are suitable for shipping due to their hardiness and adaptability. They should be packed in well-oxygenated bags with adequate water volume to minimize stress during transit. Ideal shipping temperatures should be maintained between 24°C and 26°C. CITES status is not applicable for this species, ensuring smooth export processes.
