The original description records males with orange-red dorsal and anal fin colour, whereas females show a dark lateral stripe on a paler body. The nominal range includes Java, Bali and Lombok, with clear rocky stream habitat. Gold Black is not a guarantee that every wild 3-4 cm fish has mature male display colour.
Prepare stable mature filtered receiving accommodation with rock resting surfaces and confirm the established foods and water measurements for this lot. Monitor feeding and condition rather than assuming another Stiphodon species has identical requirements. Natural stream elevation and habitat observations are not numerical aquarium targets.
