Young fish have the tall dorsal fin and strongly banded body associated with the trade name. As they mature, the proportions and colour pattern change substantially. Specialist guidance records adults at 90 cm standard length, measured without the tail fin, so the small juvenile grade needs long-term planning.

The species is native to the upper and middle Yangtze system, including the Min River. It belongs to the sucker family Catostomidae and is suited to facilities able to provide a very large freshwater display.
Provide ample swimming space, clean well-oxygenated water and appropriate current. Specialist long-term reference conditions are 15.5–21°C and pH 6.0–8.0; avoid using the broader seasonal activity range as a sustained temperature target. Feed sinking prepared foods with plant material and small live or frozen items. Choose large peaceful companions sharing cooler conditions, and confirm farm holding water before acclimation.
MBI-BAR-033 (7 cm): 10 fish per bag; maximum 8 bags per box.
MBI-BAR-033: minimum 50 individual fish. Prices are per individual fish. Existing quotation and business terms govern shipment arrangements.
