This species was described in 2011 from Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Current records also include Bangka Island. The original description distinguishes it from B. dorsiocellata by a complete lateral line, more lateral scales and larger size.

A dorsal eyespot alone does not distinguish these two species. The supplier’s wild-caught offer does not specify its collection locality.
Maintain at least eight to ten together, with cover and similarly sized peaceful companions. Avoid much larger, boisterous fish, and monitor interactions with B. dorsiocellata. Specialist guidance gives 20–25°C and pH 4.0–7.0. Offer small dry foods plus live or frozen invertebrates. Check the wild batch’s holding water before acclimation.
MBI-RAS-004: 2 cm - 3 cm, 100 fish per bag and up to 8 bags per box.
MBI-RAS-004 minimum: 500 individual fish. Prices are per individual fish. Existing quotation and business terms apply.
