A minimum tank size of 200 liters is recommended to provide adequate swimming space and territory for this species.

Feeding the Freckled Goatfish requires a varied diet that includes high-quality marine pellets, frozen or live foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and small crustaceans. This species is generally peaceful but may display territorial behavior, especially during feeding. Therefore, it's advisable to house them with compatible tank mates such as smaller reef fish.

Acclimation should be done gradually to reduce stress, ideally over a period of at least 2-3 hours. Quarantine for 2-4 weeks is also recommended before introducing them to a main display tank to prevent the spread of disease. Monitoring for signs of stress or illness is crucial for their long-term health in captivity.

Freckled Goatfish are suitable for shipping due to their resilience, but careful handling is essential. They should be packed with sufficient water and oxygen to maintain a stable environment during transport. A shipping temperature of 24-26°C is ideal, and they should be shipped in groups of 3-5 individuals to minimize stress. They are not listed under CITES, simplifying export procedures.
