To successfully care for the Halloween Moon Crab, importers and retailers should maintain water parameters closely resembling their natural habitat. Ideal water temperature ranges from 24°C to 28°C, with a salinity level around 30-35 ppt. The pH should be maintained between 7.8 and 8.5 to ensure optimal health. A minimum tank size of 100 liters is recommended to provide ample space for movement and exploration.

Feeding should focus on a varied diet including high-quality pellets, algae, and occasional protein sources such as brine shrimp or chopped seafood. This species is omnivorous and benefits from a balanced diet to maintain its vibrant colors and health. Compatibility is generally good with other peaceful marine species, but care should be taken with smaller fish or invertebrates, which may be seen as food.

Acclimation should be gradual to minimize stress, ideally over 2-3 hours, using a drip acclimation method. Quarantine for at least two weeks is recommended before introducing them to a main tank to prevent the spread of potential diseases.

The Halloween Moon Crab is suitable for shipping due to its hardy nature. It should be packed with care, ensuring adequate space to prevent crushing. A temperature range of 22°C to 26°C during transit is optimal, as they are sensitive to extreme temperatures. CITES status indicates that this species is not listed, allowing for simple export procedures.
