The Sponge Orange, scientifically known as Halichondria Spec, is a striking marine sponge found primarily in the vibrant waters of Bali, Indonesia. This species is distinguished by its vivid orange coloration, which not only adds a stunning visual element to aquariums but also plays a crucial role in marine ecosystems. In its natural habitat, the Sponge Orange thrives among coral reefs, often found in shallow waters where it can filter feed on plankton and organic particles suspended in the water column.

Morphologically, the Sponge Orange exhibits a porous structure, allowing it to efficiently filter water. Feeding is primarily through filter feeding, so it is crucial to provide a diet rich in microalgae and planktonic organisms. Regular water changes and the addition of liquid feed designed for filter feeders can greatly enhance the sponge's health. When introducing the sponge into a new environment, float the bag in the tank for about 15-20 minutes before gradually adding tank water to the bag. Quarantine is recommended for at least two weeks to prevent any potential disease transfer to the main tank. Temperature sensitivity is moderate, so maintaining a stable temperature between 24-26°C during shipping is crucial. This species is not listed under CITES, making it easier for export; however, compliance with local regulations is still essential.
